Northern University Bangladesh, and its curriculam as well as programs have been approved by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC). The President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh is the Chancellor of NUB. The Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellor and the Treasurer are appointed by the President of the country.

NUB has several formal joint collaboration programs such as:

(A). Partners in Learning (PiL) Program and IT-Academy with Microsoft Bangladesh Ltd.
(B). MBA for Executives with Bangladesh Institute of Administration and Management (BIAM) Foundation.
(C). Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Administration leading to MBA major in Governance Studies with Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Academy.
(D). CISCO: Cisco certified Networking Association Program (CCNA). The CCNA is conducted by NUB with the sophisticated IT facilities of this university (NUB is the authorized local academy under BUET).
(E). TQIP: Teaching Quality Improvement in Secondary Education Project (TQI-SEP) with Ministry of Education
