The Department of English, Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) arranged an Orientation Ceremony for the freshers of Master’s programs, summer semester-2010 at it’s City Campus on June 05, 2010.

Professor M.A. Razzaque, Pro Vice-Chancellor & Acting Vice-Chancellor, NUB, was the Chief Guest. Professor Dr. Sadruddin Ahmed, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Lt. Col. (Retd.) Aqtedar Ahmed Siddiqui, Registrar & Proctor, In- Charge, Kamiz Uddin Ahmed, Assistant Professor of English also spoke on the occasion. Professor Sher Mohammad, Head, Department of English, NUB, presided over the function.

The Chief Guest Professor M.A. Razzaque welcomed the freshers and urged upon them to devote themselves to studies. He told them that authority of NUB is trying to maintain a congenial atmosphere of education.

Professor Dr. Sadruddin Ahmed, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, said ‘‘English language has some subtleties. If you follow those subtleties, you can write and speak English better than others.’’

Lt. Col. (Retd.) Aqtedar Ahmed Siddiqui, Registrar In- Charge, NUB, started his speech by condoled the unfortunate victims of Nimtoli fire tragedy. He told the students to follow the rules and regulations of NUB. Professor Sher Mohammad, Head, Department of English, NUB, welcomed the freshers and told them that education is not a one way traffic rather it is an involvement of both students and teachers.

At the beginning of the program, Mr. Kamiz Uddin Ahmed, Assistant Professor of English, NUB, welcomed the freshers and told them about the different aspects of the English Department. Next, the guests and freshers were being received with bouquets. The program ended with an attractive cultural program participated by the students of the Department of English.
