Aila Affected People in Shivering Cold at Satkhira, Northern University with Blankets to Distribute among the Aila Affected Distressed Elderly People at Gabura and Paddapukur Union in Satkhira

People of Satkhira has become helpless for the continuous drizzling and intolerable cold wave. Many of them cannot buy the necessary warm clothes due to extreme poverty. Thousands of families stricken with extreme poverty in the destitute areas have been suffering miserably all through this winter.

In this situation, Northern University Bangladesh has distributed around 2,000 (two thousand) pieces of blankets among some thousands of helpless elderly poor people at Aila affected Gabura and Paddapukur union. The blankets were handed over yesterday in the Kholpetua Primary School play ground. Mr. Ansar Ali, Vice Chairman of Northern University Bangladesh Trustee Board was present there to inaugurate the program.

Gabura and Paddapukur are the unions which were affected in the worst way by the cyclone Aila. One thousand elderly people from each of those unions received a blanket for each and became speechless with joy having such a comfort in that adverse situation.

Some other honorable persons were present in that blanket distributing program including Professor Dr. Anwarul Karim – the Coordinator, Northern University Bangladesh, Assistant Professor Rabiul Islam, Mr. Saiful Alam – the Deputy Registrar, Mr. Abdul Matin, Mr. Sheikh Mahbubur Rahman and Mr. Al Jamal Mostofa Sindaini.
