Nizam Uddin Ahmed, Executive Director, Northern University Bangladesh Trust and about 100 teachers-students and staff of NUB were also present at the time.

Chief Guest Prof. Dr. A. A. M. S. Arefin Siddique gave thanks to the writer to provide the valuable research oriented book in the sector of regional economy. He wished that this will contribute knowledge to the counties of SAARC for the economic development of South Asia.

Writer of the book Prof. Dr. Abu Yousuf Md. Abdullah said that, this book is written on importance and bright future of SAARC as South Asian Hopes. At present, our destiny as inhabitant of South Asia depends on SAARC and survival of SAARC depends on India. If India wants to make economic development of South Asia, she must have to gear up SAARC. Being are of the senior members of SAARC, India’s responsibility towards its survival cannot be sustained.

Faizullah Kawshik, Deputy Registrar and Coordinator, Business Campus and all the Head of various Departments and staff of Northern University Bangladesh were also present in the program.

Honorable President said that, education is not a business. No one should take it for purpose of business. He became very much pleased to hear that Northern University Bangladesh is established and managed by a group of eminent academicians and he also wishes that the university must contribute proactively and continue its accomplishment. It is notable that both the Vice-Chancellor and the Chairman of the trust are from the renowned IBA of Dhaka University.

Northern University Bangladesh Trust honored to the Hob’ble President with a complementary crest. Muazzem Hossain, Executive Director, Corporate and Regulatory Affairs, Northern University Bangladesh Trust was also present on the occasion.

Prof. Dr. Sheikh Ashraf Ali, Coordinator, BBA of Banani Campus inaugurated the rally. Among others, Ashraful Islam, Deputy Registrar and Coordinator, Banani Campus, Saiful Alam Munir, Deputy Registrar and Coordinator, Dept. of Marketing Development, Promotion and Branding, Abdul Matin, Senior Asst. Registrar and more than 100 Teachers-Students and Officers were also participated in the program.

The day long program was ended with lively cultural events of Bengali culture on the occasion of Basanto Baron.

Prof. Dr. Md. Nurul Isalm, Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering inaugurated the contest as the Chief Guest. Among others, Asst. Prof. Raihan-UL Masud, Head, Dept. of CSE, Prof. Dr. Sheikh Ashraf Ali, Coordinator, BBA, Banani Campus and Prof. Dr. Engr. Md. Saifur Rahman, Head, Dept. of Textile Engineering were also present on the occasion.

The title of the final round debate was ‘Arranged marriage’. Members of the winning team were Shaifuzzaman Khan (Group Leader), Raisul Islam, students of BBA and Monitaj, student of LLB and members of the runner up team were Tahmina Quamar (Group Leader), Shafiqul Islam Shaon and Anika Akhter Deponti, students of LLB. A quiz competition was also arranged on the occasion of the debate completion. Anika Akhter Deponti got the first prize of the quiz.

Prof. Dr. Khondoker Shafayet Hossain, Dept. of Business Administration was the moderator of the final round debate competition. Among others, Md. Raihan Ul- Masood, Assistant Professor and Head of C.S.E Department, Ferdous Iqbal Chowdhury, Senior Lecturer of the dept. of English and President (In-Charge), Debating Club, Banani Campus, Tarana Aziza Khan, Lecturer of BBA and vice-president (In-Charge) of the Debating Club, Suzon Ahmed, Secretary (In-Charge) and Mazharul Islam Shikder, organizing secretary (In-Charge) of the Debating Club were also present in the prize giving ceremony.

Addressing as the chief guest, the NUB Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. M. Shamsul Haque thanked the organizers and asked all to maintain religious harmony in the campus and extend their contribution to the development and prosperity of Bangladesh.

Some others teachers, officers and students were also present in the program.

In this situation, Northern University Bangladesh has distributed around 2,000 (two thousand) pieces of blankets among some thousands of helpless elderly poor people at Aila affected Gabura and Paddapukur union. The blankets were handed over yesterday in the Kholpetua Primary School play ground. Mr. Ansar Ali, Vice Chairman of Northern University Bangladesh Trustee Board was present there to inaugurate the program.

Gabura and Paddapukur are the unions which were affected in the worst way by the cyclone Aila. One thousand elderly people from each of those unions received a blanket for each and became speechless with joy having such a comfort in that adverse situation.

Some other honorable persons were present in that blanket distributing program including Professor Dr. Anwarul Karim – the Coordinator, Northern University Bangladesh, Assistant Professor Rabiul Islam, Mr. Saiful Alam – the Deputy Registrar, Mr. Abdul Matin, Mr. Sheikh Mahbubur Rahman and Mr. Al Jamal Mostofa Sindaini.

Alhajj Liaqat Ali, the editor of the Daily Purbanchal and the chairman of the Divisional Press Club Federation, Khulna said, “The true history of the liberation war should be focused before the young generation. It will not be possible to enrich the nation without the direction and spirit of the liberation war.”

Mr. Liaqat was saying so as the chief guest in a program arranged by Northern University Bangladesh on 14 December 2011 celebrating the great victory day and the martyred intellectual day where the university received some of our valiant freedom fighters warmly.

The freedom fighters who were present in the program are Professor Alamgir Kabir, Sardar Mahbubar Rahman, Sheikh Abu Nasim Moyna, Md. Inamul Haque Biswas, Shahinul Alam Sana, Sheikh Abdul Jalil, Md. Khalilur Rahman and Alhajj Md. Abul Hosen.

Professor A B M Rashiduzzaman – Head of the Department of Business Administration, Mr. A S M Rafiuddin – Assistant Professor, Department of English Language & Literature and Mr. Mahfuzur Rahman – Assistant Coordinator, Khulna Campus delivered their speech as special guests. Professor Dr. Anwarul Karim, Coordinator, Academic & Administrative, Northern University Bangladesh, Khulna Campus was the chairperson of the program. In his speech he said, “The freedom fighters are our pride. Everybody should work together to assure their dignity.”

The chief guest said that Northern University Bangladesh guarantees to provide modern, practical and quality education. He added that taking that as its mission the university is playing a significant role to expand the opportunity of higher studies in the country.

The chairman of the seminar said that Northern University Bangladesh has already been able to draw everybody’s attention for its proper management and session jam free favorable environment.
